Bearly Purple

A personal note from one of our directors; Ali.

Ali’s brother in law, James who has been involved behind the scenes with many aspects of getting the Thirsty Bear up and functioning, is running the marathon in support of Kidney Research.  James had a very close relationship to his late grandfather, Les, and by completing the most famous marathon in the world, James wants to help people help those like Les.

Les received dialysis for 5 hours a day, 3 times a week for the last 4 years of his life.  He was never eligble for a kidney transplant due to a heart condition. He didn’t enjoy it, but it gave him more time with his family.

3 million people in the UK alone have chronic kidney disease (for the UK ~60m population that’s 5% of people) and only 1 in 4 people receive the kidney transplant they need.
When kidney disease progresses too far, kidney function drops. To stay alive you require frequent dialysis to cleanse the build-up of toxins in the blood. The needles are painful and bruises are plenty; tiredness is frequent and diet is greatly restricted. Kidney Research’s aim is to develop better treatments with the ultimate goal of finding a cure for the disease. With enough time and funding hopefully this can be achieved and millions of people won’t have to suffer with this debilitating disease.

To help James on his way to achieving his target of £2000, our head cocktail maker Pedro has designed a new cocktail – the Bearly Purple.  £1 wil be donated by The Thirsty Bear for every Bearly Purple that we sell so please dig deep and give it a try….!

You can also sponsor James directly at:-http://www.kidneyresearchukevents.org/arunformygrandfather

We also have a very extensive and growing cocktail menu – all priced at ONLY £5 for a limited period.  If you don’t see one you want then ask Pedro who will whip up any of your favourites

Thanks for your support.

The Thirsty Bear – make it your own!

It’s great to see so many people down helping us work through some of the initial roadbumps…  we really appreciate your patience and value your feedback.

A special mention should be made to the feedback we have had on stocking certain products which we have already started to investigate. The Bear is your bar so no suggestion is too crazy and we really do love to hear from people who want to make it their own.

There is no need to pre-book tables any longer although we do recommend doing so at our busier times to avoid disappointment. We just ask that you bear with us whilst we iron out the last few jitters.

We are also taking event bookings now and again want to ensure you have the best time possible so we always do all that we can to accomodate.  We have already had bookings for birthday parties where a bespoke menu has been requested; an event with our flair artist teaching you how to make some classic cocktails, a private launch event for a digital media company and loads of people just wanting to book a table to share with friends and try out our brand new menu.  We will go above and beyond to make sure everything goes just the way you want it to.

Just drop us a line on info@thethirstybear.com and we will certainly guarantee you a night to remember!
